Ever since the author - Arthur Pranger - began to type up memories of his time in World War II with A Company 86th Chemical Mortar Battalion, his family was right there to do his bidding. Two crack typists, wife Rose and daughter Patty worked on this task while convincing the old warrior that he should put his 'total recall' in book form. Son Larry was responsible for the manuscript details and assembling all that is required of such a work. He is an established and experienced web designer.
This account is unique we believe, as it portrays a first hand personal spin on the day by day - month by month - chronicle of a Private in the U.S. Army during the Great war in Europe. As the project wore on, it became a Labor of Love for his family. In addition, the family members learned more and more intimate details of their Dadıs life in the 1940s. How many siblings in the 2000 decade know about the 52/20 Club - the GI Bill - the 4.2 Mortar? Private Art spoke about these subjects over and over again since their births.
