Dear Arthur:
I haven't received any letter from you since May 16 and we all know the D-Day is
on we got the news June 6 and was that some news we're all well Dad's working in
Dayton. Ralph's school is out, Joan is still in school everybody is praying all
the cafe's and business houses were closed on D-Day.
I'm saving the papers of that day for you to see when you come back. Ralph passed
in school and I was talking to Mrs. Bailer who said she wrote to you but she just
got one letter since your over there. The Dues are still at the same place. Anna
& Frank were at our house for supper Monday night everybody over here are working
so hard but there's plenty to eat not much Ration on a lot of food - except Meat.
Ralph got a scrub bucket of cherries out at Anna's sunday. I was cooking cherries
tll 10:30 Sunday night we got 6 pints and 3 big pies out of them. I wish you had
a piece and ice cream. Don't worry about us. Just take care of yourself and make
the best of it. I hope these letters find you with a lot of courage, always do
what's right because it is right. I feel like you are meeting all kinds of people
good and bad so I know it is not an easy thing to be with all kinds, so I hope
that you pick your kind, remember what I said to you - don't forget the church. -
pray.
And for the weather is about 55 for 2 days it was cold but Sunday - Monday they
said it was the hottest we had this year, there is hardly any mail from England,
coming over here. I'll write more soon.
